Who are we?
Founded in 2022 in Nunavik, at latitude 60.0371 and longitude -77.2692 (60° 2′ 14″ N, 77° 16′ 9″ W), IG – Inukshuk gemstones Inc. is a Canadian company dedicated to the research, valuation, and trading of gemstones.
Amélie Mazurkiewicz, a graduate of the Gemological Association of Great Britain, has devoted a decade of her life to exploring and understanding the natural riches of the Canadian Arctic.
Her fascination for remote places and their wild beauty fueled her desire to create a business that combines gemological expertise with a deep respect for nature.
The name Inukshuk refers to a traditional stone structure erected by the Inuit peoples of Canada and Greenland. These figures, typically made by stacking stones, symbolize communication, direction, and human presence in the vast Arctic expanses. The legend of the Inukshuk tells how an Inuit hunter, lost in a blizzard, was found thanks to an Inukshuk that marked his passage.
This story illustrates not only the importance of this edifice as a landmark in nature but also the values of mutual assistance and solidarity within communities living in extreme environments. As a symbol of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Inukshuk embodies the spirit of Inuit culture, as well as the beauty and grandeur of Arctic regions.
